Meanwhile, in 4th grade…
Eating like a BIRD!
In science, we are learning about habitats. Today’s lesson focused on adaptations. Students used a variety of tools (wrenches, eyedroppers, wooden spoons, chopsticks, tweezers) to pick up (“eat”) tons of food! We had gummy worms, bird seed, peanuts to represent large seeds, water for nectar, paper clips in water for fish, raisins as fruit, macaroni for snails… Tons of stuff! Students had 15 seconds to pick up as much food with their “beaks” as they could. We then discussed which beaks work best for what type of food, and how birds have adapted for such reasons.
Awesome!
